Voice4Ability SLS was honored to participate in the 2nd SDRC Family & Vendor Resource Fair, held at the Town & Country Resort in San Diego on September 28, 2024. The event brought together more than 2,000 attendees, including families, service providers, and community partners, to share vital resources and support for individuals with disabilities in the San Diego area.

This annual event, organized by the San Diego Regional Center (SDRC), offers an incredible platform to connect families, vendors, and organizations like Voice4Ability, who are committed to enhancing the lives of individuals with disabilities through supported living services (SLS). The fair provided an opportunity for attendees to discover various resources, network with service providers, and explore new ways to foster independence, inclusion, and community integration for their loved ones.

Sharing Our 5 Principles of Supported Living

A central theme of our discussions at the event was our adherence to the 5 Principles of Supported Living, as outlined in the Lanterman Act. We believe that everyone deserves:

  1. A Home of Their Own: Voice4Ability assists individuals in finding, furnishing, and securing their own homes, while also helping to create and maintain a safe and comfortable living environment.
  2. Choice and Self-Direction: We encourage individuals to make decisions about their own lives, including selecting their support team, setting personal goals, and monitoring their own care plans.
  3. Community and Relationships: Our services help individuals maintain relationships with family, friends, and community members while forging new connections within their local community.
  4. Flexible and Tailored Support: Voice4Ability provides flexible services that adapt to an individual’s changing needs, ensuring that they receive the right level of support when they need it most.
  5. Health and Wellness: We assist with health management, mental wellness, financial management, and more, ensuring individuals have the tools they need to thrive in all aspects of life.

Building Awareness and Connections

Through our booth at the fair, we helped raise awareness of the importance of Supported Living Services and how they can positively impact the lives of individuals with disabilities. Our dedicated team engaged with families to discuss personalized solutions that address their unique needs, from finding housing to fostering personal growth and independence.

We also connected with other vendors and community partners, building strong relationships that further our mission of fostering an inclusive society where individuals with disabilities have the opportunity to live fulfilling, independent lives.
